Michael, Laurie_I'm sorry sis by Anko-sensei Michael, Laurie_I'm sorry sis by Anko-sensei
Just something quick I did, the doodle I did it time ago and now I just added some quick colors. After watching (again) at that part in which a baad thing happened, at the beggining of Halloween Resurrection. I just wanted to change the ending in my mind and this was what happened(?) -sighs-
Something cute, brother and sister trying to get over about all the bad things that happened, Mikey maybe putting himself back together and Laurie forgiving him?
Mehh =( I love them both </3 a happy ending for a change.

Wow... that's actually pretty emotional. However, the sad fact is Michael snapped for too long, and gaining his sanity won't work that easily.

Still, very nice work, even though it's a mere sketch. I love the colouring and the fact he has his mask off and you can actually see his face (well, more or less).

I love hugs lolz!

Thanks, yeah, more or less. I didn't wanted to show his whole face, just a representation like "no mask on, no killer around"

I highly doubt that would happen in the Carpenter series. No offense to you8D;, cause this art ROCKS as always:). But Zombie version ya never know, Zombie wanted to give him more "empathy" or somethin'.

Yeah, I know. It's just a way of showing something nice for a change. Thanks xD, and well... I still prefer the original than the one Zombie did, the original had this weird/unknown thing, and mistery I just love to death. Samhain and things about a cult probably, it's just cool xD

I have to ask, what did you think of the "Curse of Thorn" plot from Halloween 4-6? I've seen a lot of hate for it, but I've always felt it kept the spirit of the series closer to Carpenter's vision, with the whole "evil of Halloween/Boogeyman" theme. =/

I'm one of those who actually like it, I love it. I mean, at least the main idea of it, I'd have done it a bit different at H6 by example when they tried to explain it. The Producer's cut version is awesome too, but in that one I'd have changed the thing when the cult actually could control Michael's actions. That's just weird. I like to believe he was under the power of Samhain, yes, something evil and dark made him go insane and chase after his family, he can't control it though he would like to (like when he cries at H5 because he didn't wanted to hurt Jamie), and that's just cool.
Still you could look at the movies and believe they were trying to follow Carpenter and Hill's visions about something evil which couldn't be controled.
Rob Zombie did something I didn't liked it, it was just... Sorry, but I can't xD. The whole mistery the original had just vanished in there.

Aye, that's why I didn't like the plotline of H20; besides the fact that it led to Resurrection, it also de-mystified Myers from the Boogeyman to "slasher villain 3354-7B." It's like someone took a rejected storyboard from a Scream sequel and replaced Ghostface with The Shape (they even used Scream's *music* for Pete's sake). =(

To be honest, I liked the idea of a cult "controlling" Myers as it was handled in the film. It starts out almost as a relief to the audience; "Oh good," they think, "The evil of Samhain really *isn't* completely uncontrollable! Myers *isn't* a masterless force of nature out to haunt humanity forever and all time!" Sweating a little...
However, later in the film he *SPOILERS* turns on them in the operating room, slaughtering them indiscriminately to get to his last living relative, and basically saying "screw you" to Dr. Wynn so he could evade capture. That's when the audience feels the bottom drop out of their collective stomach; "Holy $#!7...there really *isn't* anything you can do to stop the Boogeyman!" Hold Me The Horror-by Pappaprime

H20 is a really nice movie to me, I loved the suspense and "reunion" with Laurie (also the ending when he tried to reach for her, she almost touched his hand, it was nice till she ends up chosing decapitation. But well, there was nothing she could do in the end, so it was just logical), in H20 also you don't know in fact why Michael keeps doing what he does, leaving to the expectative if Thorn is still involved, or not. I know they said it's like the continuation after Halloween 2, but there is also hints to Halloween 4 and others.

That about the thing related with the Scream franchise, I think they did it because on Scream 2 they did something similar to the Halloween franchise, they also shared the nice thing of showing Scream 2 in H20 at the TV, and viceversa. About the ost, with my brother also thought it was probably the same people who worked on it, because it was so similar. We actually liked it, since Scream is another saga we both enjoy, at least the 1st trilogy. But as I was saying, the music added a lot of suspense, so yeah, we like it.

And thaaaats what I liked of the normal H6, when he comes out of control and ends up killing the cult in the operating room. I loved all the masacre he did, still, there was a lot that wasn't explained, for that reason you need to watch both versions to get it. The whole persecution at the end was awesome, one of my favorites in fact. But the whole cult around him, following Michael's steps, that's what I didn't like it xD. I'd have loved another plot to explain Thorn and the evil that comes with it.

I can see why people do like H20, and I'm not saying it's a bad film. My problem is that I'm an *extremely* picky horror fan, and most of my reasons for disliking it are just my personal opinion on what a "Halloween" movie *should* be. The tone of the film,  atmosphere, camerawork, score (they straight up used Scream's music in the theatrical cut), even Michael Myers himself just don't "fit" for me. For example...

  -  H6 used claustrophobic environments, shadows, and lighting to ratchet up the tension; 3/4ths of the film takes place at night, in abandoned barns, hospital rooms, and/or basements. Lighting that *is* present is either harsh and glaring or comes in blood-red form via emergency lighting. By contrast, H20's environments are open and brightly lit...even in the outdoor scenes! Everything is shot in a nice, full color palette instead of the blue filter on H6 that muted colors and gave white objects a pallid, icy hue.  Confused

  -  H6's score was done by Alan Howarth, who had worked on the soundtrack of every film in the series since 1978; his trademark was harsh, minimalist scores, similar to that of A Nightmare on Elm Street. It felt like you were watching a televised documentary, rather than a big-budget horror film. The sweeping, big-band scores in H20 and Resurrection just felt out-of-place, and in some places (e.g. Laurie's death in H8) outright cheesy. :wtf:

  -  People bashed H6's Myers because George P. Wilbur had obviously put on some weight since his stint in H4; this I have to agree with. However, his portrayal in both films mirrored Warlock's "robotic" Myers of Halloween II, as did A. Michael Lerner (who portrayed Myers in the re-shoots). Myers *doesn't* walk or move like a normal person; when played just right, even watching the guy walk straight down a hallway is unsettling, as Loree proved in the opening scenes of H8. In H20 he jogs everywhere and has wanton over-reactions to being injured, and pretty much any external stimuli. H20's "The Shape" sometimes felt like a deliberate caricature, and otherwise like some guy doing cosplay at Comic Con; about the only thing they *didn't* screw up was the butcher knife.

*whew* Erm...yeah. Sorry for the rant, I just reeeeealy like horror, and the Halloween series in particular. *Turns off fanboy switch* Sweat Emoticon

I see, I understand your point, but yeah, to me at least there is different ways to portray that "horror", I like as well the one you tried to make me see, and also the suspense that it's shown on H20. Same with the camerawork & atmosphere, damn, obviously I can't get enought of the classic Halloween, the camera angles in there where really terrorific.

Yeah, I liked that a lot actually, I also remember when I first saw H6 years ago, and  as I said before, the part at the end with the masacre, it caused me a lot of terror. I actually had nightmares about it. It's just awesome when it's centred in that kind of places like the hospitals. Again, I get your point. In H20 maybe you can run and get away dealing the places they used, but still it also makes you believe that if even in those places you find Myers, you're screwed xD. The SoB always will find you, sooner or later. He takes his time, and knows when to strike. (About the Michael in H20, just like you said, I didn't liked either, not even my brother liked him. It was wrong in some many levels, even though he looked cool at the tables part xD)

You believe the ost felt chessy when Laurie died at H8? Well, maybe they tried to express the fact it was something sad even for a horror movie (and if we take the fact Thorn could be still involved in there, it could also be sad for Michael too, there's some feelings involved, I could bet), and it was Laurie after all.

Poor George! just because he could have gained some extra weigth in H6 it doesn't means he played Michael wrong (Michael was hungry and ate a lot of dogs on the way out of Smith's Grove(???)lol). Exactly, he made you remember the old Michael with the way he moved, he could make you shiver just with that, and that was priceless.

Lol don't worry, I'm a fangirl myself when it comes of Halloween too, it is actually my favorite horror movie series. I've had long chats with a lot of users, just like this one or others. I like to know other people's opinions about the franchise

I just liked the original because Michael's real unknown reason for killing was just what made him scarier. He just wanted to kill and he'd do it.
